Role Description
Based in India, the VAT Accountant will primarily support VAT compliance and advisory services for Operations in EMEA (currently 21 countries including the UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Poland). There will be opportunity to gain exposure to US Sales Tax and other direct taxes. This is a unique opportunity to join a small in-house team of experienced tax professionals providing exposure to international taxes within a growing multinational organisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Indirect Tax compliance
-
Support all indirect tax compliance obligations and filing requirements for the EMEA legal entities, including:

EMEA VAT returns and EU sales lists preparation and submission

Liaise with in-country accountants and external advisors within EMEA

Payment requests to the Cash team for VAT payments according to statutory deadlines

VAT account general ledger reconciliations and turnover reconciliations with timely investigation and clearance of reconciling items

Support the accounting and audit process for VAT liabilities/receivables for financial reporting

Work with the EMEA VAT Manager to drive the process for indirect tax compliance, including identification and implementation of VAT opportunities and process improvements

Wider tax team duties

Prepare global monthly tax account analysis file

Support handling of any audits, enquiries and foreign VAT refund claims

Support other adhoc tax projects as needed including due diligence activities for potential acquisitions and new territory VAT registrations

Ensure tax adherence to internal control requirements of the Company
Qualifications
-
Professional accounting and/or tax qualifications and proficient in English

Significant indirect tax experience gained with a leading accountancy firm or an in-house multinational tax team

Highly motivated individual with appetite for working in a fast-paced and commercially oriented business

Organised and methodical individual, with the ability to plan and organise work effectively, delivering to deadlines

Excellent communicator, both verbally and written, adopting the most appropriate medium for the situation

Analytical, innovative, with good research and problem-solving skills

Ideally you will have experience of multiple country VAT regimes
