Role Description

The Department of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico is seeking a highly motivated and energetic professional to serve as the department’s Sr. Fiscal Services Tech. The individual in this position will:

• Initiate, process, and maintain records of a variety of complex fiscal, budgetary, and associated transactions, in direct support of the accountant and department administrator.
• Investigate and resolve problems related to funds, budgets, expenditures, and procurement practices.
• Provide reports and analyses on complex fiscal issues, as assigned.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and management of fiscal systems and procedures, applying basic concepts, methods, and techniques.

The successful candidate will be dependable and team-oriented, have excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills, and collaborate effectively with a wide range of individuals in a very diverse work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and apply general accounting processes.
• Experience with UNM accounting systems and processes (Banner, MyReports, Workflow, ePAFs, Labor Distributions, JVs, Chrome River, LoboMart).
• Ability to understand and apply University policies and procedures and Federal/State financial regulations.
• Experience preparing and monitoring budgets using finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Experience with UNM purchasing card and related policies.
• Experience reconciling, balancing, and maintaining standard accounting records.
• Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information.
