Role Description
We are looking for a
Sr. Collections Specialist
who can manage a complex commercial portfolio with confidence, make smart decisions independently, and resolve difficult situations without losing the client relationship in the process. This is not an entry-level role; we need someone who knows collections inside and out, understands commercial agreements, and can walk into a billing dispute and own it from start to finish.
-
Manage a high-volume B2B commercial account portfolio, prioritizing outreach based on risk and delinquency levels.
-
Proactively contact clients by phone and email to negotiate payment arrangements and recover past-due balances.
-
Apply sound judgment in selecting the right collection strategy for each account, maintaining accurate documentation in our ERP or collections management system.
-
Serve as the primary point of contact for complex billing disputes, owning each case from identification through resolution.
-
Verify that invoices align with contractual terms before and during the collections process.
-
Monitor aging reports daily, assess portfolio health, and keep management informed on high-risk accounts and overall portfolio status.
Qualifications
-
Deep expertise in commercial collections processes and agreement interpretation.
-
Confident, independent decision-maker who can assess complex situations and act.
-
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working well with finance, legal, and client-facing teams.
-
Meticulous documentation habits and experience with ERP or collections management systems.
-
A professional communicator who can deliver difficult news without burning bridges.
Requirements
-
Collections & Accounts Receivable Expertise: Strong working knowledge of B2B collections processes, billing systems, and commercial agreement interpretation.
-
Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ERP and collections management systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
-
Communication & Dispute Resolution: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional, persuasive, and diplomatic approach.
-
Education: Bachelor's Degree or 4+ Years Professional Experience in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
-
Experience: 4+ Years Experience in business-to-business collections, accounts receivable, or a related commercial finance role.
Benefits
-
Generous paid time off policy, including vacation and 10 paid holidays.
-
Competitive and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits plans.
-
401(k) retirement plan with a generous contribution.
-
Group Term Life Insurance covered 100% by employer.
-
Wellness Incentive to promote overall employee well-being.
-
Paid volunteer time.
-
Business casual dress code.
