Role Description
This highly specialized client facing General Liability, Excess and Surplus position is responsible for:

Agency marketing, risk selection, underwriting, pricing, and cross-sell initiatives with other business units.

Gaining and servicing new and renewal business.

Assisting in the development of new products.
-
Working independently with limited supervision requiring proven expertise in General Liability with Excess & Surplus Lines experience.
Key responsibilities include:

Vetting of submissions – New and renewal business, including analyzing risk, loss runs, exposures, terms, profit, and loss statements, emails, and calls with brokers.

Completing the pricing tool and pricing of accounts.

Preparing quotes & binders to release to brokers, determining proper terms and exclusions unique to each account.

Full negotiations with brokers and/or agents.

Writing referrals regarding risks outside of underwriters’ authority.

Conducting in-person and virtual visits with Brokers/Agencies.
-
Working with internal and external partners to ensure proper endorsements are handled within guidelines.

Collaborating with corporate underwriting on writing and approval of manuscript endorsements.

Cultivating existing and new relationships to support business unit goals.

Coordinating special projects as assigned.

Maintaining underwriting files and documentation to support the underwriting thought process.

Assisting the management team with mentoring, training, and development of other team partners.

Serving as a technical expert.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; additional insurance certifications or designations preferred.

Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

A minimum of eight years’ experience required.

Experience in underwriting with an insurance organization with demonstrated technical knowledge in one or more areas: underwriting, marketing, loss prevention, or similar knowledge.

State licenses may be required.

Pay Range: Actual compensation decision relies on internal equity, candidate’s skills and professional experience, geographic location, market, and other potential factors.

Reasonable estimate for this role is between $137,900 and $231,000 (add 10% to this range for AK, CA, CT, DC, HI, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, WA).
