Role Description
We’re looking for a Senior Tax Manager who will serve as a primary advisor to closely held businesses and their owners, leading tax strategy, overseeing complex returns, guiding financial statement preparation, and serving as a trusted point of contact for clients and their teams. What You’ll Do

Lead and review preparation of client financial statements, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timely delivery.

Review and structure profit allocations for multi-owner entities, with attention to tax efficiency and fairness among owners.

Direct and refine the client tax onboarding process, ensuring a smooth, professional experience from day one.

Prepare, review, and sign complex tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts, including coordination of foreign filings where applicable.

Serve as primary relationship manager for assigned clients, leading meetings, driving communication, and proactively identifying planning opportunities.

Plan and run semi-annual client meetings focused on financial performance, cash flow, entity structure, and tax planning.

Own meeting preparation and follow-up: agendas, materials, modeling, action items, and ongoing communication.

Guide clients’ long-term strategic and tax planning efforts in collaboration with partners and internal specialists.

Oversee and review buyer-side financial due diligence for dental practice acquisitions, including quality of earnings and sustainability of cash flow.

Manage the preparation and review of tax projections, estimated tax payment schedules, and future liability planning.

Oversee resolution of tax notices and manage responses to federal, state, and local government inquiries.

Lead and coordinate tax aspects of government audits, from document requests to issue resolution.

Monitor workflow for assigned accounts, ensuring deadlines are met and work is executed smoothly with the client’s internal service team.

Research complex accounting and tax questions; provide clear, actionable recommendations to clients and internal team members.

Stay current on tax law changes; develop and deliver internal training or educational materials as needed.

Maintain a high level of client satisfaction by being responsive, proactive, and communicative with engagement partners and team members.

Provide formal and informal leadership to tax staff, including coaching, reviewing work, and helping shape professional development.

Contribute to other firm initiatives and projects as needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or an MBA preferred.

Active CPA license.

At least 7 years of progressive experience in public accounting, with strong consideration for prior national or large regional firm (including Big 4) experience.

Significant experience with business and owner-level taxation, including S corporations, C corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, translate technical issues into practical language, and confidently present recommendations.

Comfort handling complex or sensitive client issues and explaining nuanced positions and risks.

Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, keeping pace with evolving tax law, regulations, and best practices.

Deep technical knowledge of current federal and state tax rules and the ability to apply them in real-world scenarios.

Proven ability to research complex tax matters and develop well-supported planning options or solutions.

Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop referral sources and cultivate business opportunities in the marketplace.

Experience or familiarity with medical and dental industry metrics and financial drivers is highly desirable.
