Role Description
The Senior Manager, Retail Innovation provides strategic financial leadership and business partnership to Retail, Innovation, Brand and commercial leadership to drive profitable growth, improve portfolio economics and strengthen pricing and revenue management capabilities.

Leads the financial evaluation of retail customers, products, pricing, trade investments and innovation opportunities.

Provides Finance leadership throughout the innovation lifecycle from initial business case development through commercialization and post-launch performance assessment.

Responsible for financial planning, forecasting and performance management for the traditional retail business, including customer and SKU profitability, gross-to-net revenue, trade promotion effectiveness, pricing and price-pack architecture, assortment and distribution decisions, and retailer investment.

Serves as the Finance lead for enterprise pricing governance and innovation economics.

Partners closely with Operations, R&D, Digital Finance and PMO to ensure product, channel, cost and investment assumptions are fully integrated into business decisions and long-range financial plans.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary Finance business partner to the Retail organization across all brands.

Own retail financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management.

Develop customer-, brand-, channel-, and SKU-level revenue and profitability analysis.

Develop driver-based retail forecasts incorporating distribution, velocity, price/mix, promotions, assortment, innovation, and customer-specific initiatives.

Evaluate customer opportunities, distribution gains/losses, assortment decisions, line reviews, and commercial investments.

Lead Finance support for enterprise pricing and revenue growth management, including MSRP/list price, customer pricing, price-pack architecture, promotional pricing, and innovation pricing.

Develop pricing scenarios and quantify the impact of pricing decisions on volume, gross-to-net, mix, gross margin, and customer profitability.

Lead Finance support for trade promotion planning and effectiveness, including evaluation of incremental revenue, gross profit, and ROI.

Develop and improve visibility into gross-to-net revenue, including trade spend, deductions, allowances, and other revenue leakage.

Serve as the primary Finance partner for Innovation and own the financial business cases for new products and major portfolio initiatives.

Provide financial leadership at innovation stage gates, challenge key assumptions, and ensure consistent financial criteria are used to prioritize investments.

Partner with Operations/R&D on target product costs and margin requirements and with Digital/Growth Finance on DTC, Amazon, marketing, and Field Sales assumption.

Maintain visibility into the innovation pipeline and incorporate expected innovation performance into budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.

Conduct post-launch reviews comparing actual innovation performance with approved business cases and incorporate learnings into future assumptions.

Identify opportunities to improve customer, SKU, product, and portfolio profitability through pricing, mix, trade optimization, assortment, and product rationalization.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred.

7-9 years of progressive experience in FP&A or corporate finance.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
-
Experience leading CPG brands required.
-
Experience in DTC, Vitamins/Supplements, Nutraceuticals, Food & Beverage, or Health & Wellness strongly preferred.

Strong retail and commercial finance acumen with demonstrated understanding of customer economics, distribution, velocity, assortment, promotions, gross-to-net revenue, and retail P&L drivers.

Strong pricing and revenue growth management capabilities, including price-pack architecture, trade and promotional effectiveness, gross-to-net management, and price/volume/mix analysis.

Demonstrated ability to develop and critically evaluate innovation and new-product business cases incorporating revenue, pricing, COGS, cannibalization, investment requirements, profitability, and financial returns.

Strong analytical and forecasting skills with the ability to assess customer, SKU, brand, and portfolio profitability and translate commercial drivers into accurate, actionable financial forecasts.

Strong ability to partner with and influence Sales, Marketing, Innovation, R&D, and Operations leaders by constructively challenging assumptions and translating financial insights into commercial recommendations.
Physical or Work Requirements

Primarily performs work in an office or remote environment and requires extended periods of sitting, computer use, and verbal communication.

Salary Range
National Target Base Pay Range: $120,000 - $200,000. The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $133,000 - $221,000, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.
