[Hiring] Senior Director of Finance @Lumen

Role Description

Lumen is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Senior Director of Finance to serve as the CFO and trusted business partner for our Product & Technology organization. This executive-level leader will provide financial leadership across a dynamic portfolio of digital, software, platform, cloud, and technology investments, helping shape decisions that accelerate growth, enhance profitability, and maximize shareholder value.

In this highly visible role, you will partner directly with executive leadership to drive financial strategy, long-range planning, investment prioritization, and business performance. You will lead a high-performing finance organization while influencing critical decisions related to product innovation, technology investments, resource allocation, and long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the strategic finance leader and key business partner to Product & Technology leadership, translating business priorities into actionable financial strategies.
• Lead financial management across a complex portfolio, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, headcount planning, capital investments, EBITDA, and free cash flow.
• Drive annual planning, long-range planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis to support business growth and investment decisions.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Technology, Sales, Marketing, and Corporate Strategy leaders to align financial plans with business objectives.
• Provide executive-level insights and recommendations regarding portfolio prioritization, organizational investments, profitability, and operational performance.
• Establish and govern key SaaS and digital business metrics, including recurring revenue, retention, customer economics, and product profitability.
• Evaluate strategic investments, product initiatives, acquisitions, and technology programs, ensuring disciplined capital allocation and measurable returns.
• Lead, develop, and inspire a world-class Product Finance organization focused on strategic decision support, business partnership, and financial excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Finance, FP&A, Corporate Finance, Business Finance, or Product Finance.
• Experience supporting SaaS, software, cloud, digital platform, or technology-driven businesses.
• Demonstrated success leading complex P&Ls and driving business performance in large, matrixed organizations.
• Experience partnering with executive leadership teams on strategic planning, investment decisions, and financial performance management.
• Deep understanding of SaaS business models, subscription and consumption economics, product development lifecycles, and software investment strategies.
• Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing finance teams and future leaders.
• Exceptional financial acumen, executive presence, communication, and influencing skills.

Preferred

• MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced business or finance credentials.
• Experience serving as a Finance Leader, CFO, or senior finance executive within a SaaS, cloud, enterprise software, or high-growth technology environment.
• Experience supporting Product, Engineering, or Technology organizations at scale.
• Knowledge of software capitalization, cloud infrastructure economics, hosting and delivery models, and digital business performance metrics.
• Experience evaluating mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• Background in telecommunications, cloud networking, digital platforms, AI infrastructure, or related technology sectors.
• Proven track record influencing outcomes across complex organizations without direct authority.
• Demonstrated ability to balance growth investments with disciplined financial management and value creation.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

• $174,876 - $233,168 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, WY
• $183,621 - $244,827 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, RI
• $192,364 - $256,486 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, WA
