[Hiring] Senior AU Business Services & SMSF Accountant @Solopreneur Team OPC

Role Description

We’re hiring a Senior AU Business Services & SMSF Accountant for an Australian accounting and advisory firm in public practice. You’ll prepare financial statements, tax returns, BAS and IAS for business clients, and handle SMSF accounting and compliance. You’ll work closely with the firm’s Australian accountants and client managers to deliver accurate work on time. The role needs full overlap with Australian business hours.

• Prepare financial statements and workpapers for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
• Prepare income tax returns and supporting schedules
• Prepare BAS and IAS
• Prepare SMSF financial statements, tax returns and compliance documentation
• Complete account reconciliations and year-end adjustments
• Use Xero for bookkeeping, reporting and reconciliations
• Review transactions, coding and account reconciliations
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Keep client records, workpapers and supporting documentation accurate
• Meet ATO requirements and lodgement deadlines
• Liaise with Australian accountants and internal stakeholders
• Help with workflow management and job tracking

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of Australian public practice experience
• Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals and SMSFs
• Hands-on experience with SMSF financial statements, workpapers and tax returns
• Experience with Class Super, BGL 360 or similar SMSF software
• Experience preparing BAS and IAS
• Proficient in Xero
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting and compliance processes
• Clear written and spoken English
• High attention to detail and able to manage multiple deadlines
• Available to work AEST/AEDT hours

Requirements

• Exposure to CGT calculations
• Exposure to Div 7A, FBT or trust distribution calculations
• Experience with Xero Practice Manager (XPM) or FYI Docs
• CPA or CA qualification, completed or in progress
