Role Description
This is a full-time, high-responsibility role dedicated to reviewing financial statements before they are delivered to clients. This is not a team lead or supervisory role. It is a specialized, high-level technical accounting position for someone who can jump in quickly and perform thorough, in-depth reviews with strong independent judgment.
The right person will have deep accounting expertise, strong attention to detail, and a proven track record of delivering accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth financial reviews:

Review client financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance before client delivery

Verify reconciliations, journal entries, payroll allocations, accruals, and adjustments

Evaluate accounting treatment for transactions in both accrual and cash basis reporting

Perform detailed transaction and account analysis:

Review general ledger transactions for proper classification and accuracy
-
Ensure reconciliations for balance sheet accounts are complete, accurate, and properly supported

Confirm payroll splits and allocations are correct and aligned with client reporting needs

Identify and resolve issues:
-
Detect discrepancies, inconsistencies, or missing information in financials
-
Communicate review notes clearly and professionally to team members responsible for corrections
-
Follow up on review adjustments to ensure all changes are implemented accurately

Maintain high quality standards:
-
Uphold company policies, accounting best practices, and client-specific requirements
-
Meet deadlines without sacrificing thoroughness or accuracy
-
Maintain confidentiality and professional integrity at all times
Qualifications

5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role
-
At least 2 years of involvement in financial review prior to client delivery

Direct, hands-on QuickBooks Online experience is required
Requirements

Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles

Confidence working in both accrual and cash basis accounting environments

Experience evaluating complex accounting entries, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, depreciation, and payroll allocations

Advanced Excel skills

Ability to analyze and manipulate large datasets

Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new software quickly

Strong references demonstrating accuracy, reliability, and high performance in prior review roles

Excellent communication skills

High ownership, follow-through, and attention to detail

Work Environment

Compensation

$2,500-$3,500 USD/month, based on experience
