[Hiring] Senior Accountant @Oakbridge Insurance Agency

Role Description

The Senior Accountant supports the accounting team by owning core general ledger, treasury, and month-end close functions for Oakbridge. This role is accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. This is a remote, full-time position.

Work Performed:

• Month-End Close & General Ledger:
  • Assist in the month-end close process, including maintaining the monthly close checklist, preparing and recording general ledger journal entries in accordance with GAAP, and assisting in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, including intercompany, accrued expenses, and accounts payable accrual accounts.
  • Oversee prepaid expense accounting, including recognition and amortization schedules.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Administer the company’s lease accounting system and maintain compliance with lease accounting standards.
• Treasury, Tax & Audit:
  • Oversee treasury operations, including serving as bank administrator, managing an outsourced treasury service provider, and reviewing monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Manage tax notices received, support requests from outside income tax providers, and assist with filings for other tax types as needed.
  • Lead the external audit process, including preparing audit requests and coordinating deliverables across the accounting team.
• Acquisition Accounting:
  • Prepare earnout calculations for acquired agencies.
  • Manage purchase accounting and prepare opening balance sheets for newly acquired agencies, including goodwill and intangible asset accounting and impairment testing.
• Reporting, Analysis & Process Improvement:
  • Support accounting-related data warehouse functions and reporting needs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in close or reporting workflows.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Clear communicator who takes ownership of deliverables and meets deadlines independently.
