Role Description
Smile Brands is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations and analysis, and assisting with financial reporting and audit support. The ideal candidate has strong general ledger accounting experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Schedule (days/hours): Monday - Friday 8am-5pm (PST)
Responsibilities

General Accounting & Analysis

Prepare and post journal entries to support monthly close activities

Perform monthly reconciliations and analysis for complex balance sheet accounts

Review general ledger activity and research material variances

Analyze reserve accounts and trends to ensure appropriate financial reserves are maintained

Identify accounting risks, discrepancies, and process improvement opportunities

Review standard accruals and recommend adjustments based on trends and business activity

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Support the monthly and annual close process, including tracking deliverables and meeting deadlines

Assist with preparation and distribution of financial reporting packages

Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management and operational teams

Ensure financial data is accurate and compliant with GAAP

Audit & Compliance

Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests

Assist with maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

Communicate control gaps or process concerns to Accounting leadership in a timely manner

Additional Support

Participate in special projects and cross-functional finance initiatives as needed
Qualifications

3+ years of corporate/general ledger accounting experience with responsibility for month-end close activities

Experience supporting and owning components of the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis

Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles

Experience preparing complex journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting schedules

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions

Experience working within ERP or accounting systems

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Prior experience as a Senior Accountant or equivalent corporate accounting role

Public accounting experience

Experience working with large ERP systems

Compensation
$90,000 - $100,000 per year
