Role Description
The Sr. Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, as well as validation of various balance sheet accounts for accuracy and completeness. Leads the development of process improvements and system enhancements.

Support the corporate accounting team with monthly and quarterly financial statements and quarterly consolidation packages, as required.

Preparation of monthly journal entries and reports.

Validate various balance sheet accounts for accuracy and completeness.

Project lead on process improvement and system enhancement initiatives, as required.

Provides guidance to junior and intermediate level accountants, as required.

Perform other ad hoc accounting assignments, as required.
Qualifications
-
Undergraduate degree in business or commerce with a major in accounting or finance.

Professional Accounting designation held or near completion.

Continuous development of knowledge and skills in the field of accounting, including accounting practices and Day & Ross specific requirements.

Minimum of six years’ experience working in an accounting function in a business environment, preferably in the transportation industry.

Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the aptitude for learning new software. Experience in Oracle ERP and Truckmate would be considered an asset, but not required.

Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Ability to work independently to contribute to a team and work well with a team to implement new processes and systems.
