[Hiring] Senior Accountant @Wellstar Health System

Role Description

This position reports directly to the Manager of Technical Accounting. Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Preparing, analyzing, researching, and adjusting financial statements as part of the month-end close process for management presentation.
• Creating relevant workpapers, schedules, and reconciliations.
• Reviewing and comprehending financial indicators and results of operations and variances from budget and historical results.
• Assisting with researching technical accounting and financial reporting issues as well as ad hoc financial analysis and projects.
• Coordinating with local accounting teams regarding financial transactions and resolution of unusual balances or variances.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Performs general accounting functions/processes:
  • Responsible for executing assigned month-end close process responsibilities of Wellstar Health Systems financial statements.
  • Prepares journal entries and maintains document analysis and support.
  • Assists with the application of GAAP to new transactions, where applicable.
  • Maintains appropriate procedure documentation and adheres to Wellstar policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all month-end close and compliance timelines are met.
  • Performs balance sheet and income statement analyses and reconciliations.
  • Identifies process improvement initiatives for specific areas of responsibility.
  • Assists with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and compliance reporting.
  • Supports annual audits.
  • Coordinates with local accounting and finance teams on financial transactions and resolution of unusual balances or variances.
• Special projects, as assigned:
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Acquisitions, accounting, and reporting.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance.
• Master's Degree in Accounting/Master's in Business Administration (preferred).

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience in finance, accounting.
• All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
• CPA - Certified Public Accountant upon hire preferred.
