Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our Risk Team. In this role, youβll serve as a liaison between Individual Life Underwriting and Corporate partners, providing specialized underwriting expertise to evaluate potential risk, investigate concerns, and support fraud-risk mitigation.
Responsibilities

Evaluate underwriting referrals involving MIB and medical data, provide recommendations, and determine when further investigation or referral to the Special Investigations Unit is appropriate.

Conduct forensic underwriting reviews including background checks, medical record reviews, and post-issue analysis related to individual cases or underwriting programs.

Partner with Underwriting Leaders and Compliance to review Department of Insurance inquiries and state regulatory actions and coordinate responses from the Individual Underwriting department.

Conduct contestable claims reviews to identify potential material misrepresentation and communicate findings to the Claims department.

Serve as a subject matter resource to Individual Life Underwriting teams and other Corporate partners on medical and financial underwriting processes, requirements, tools, and procedures.
Qualifications

Significant experience in Individual Life underwriting, with a strong understanding of medical and financial underwriting processes.

Experience evaluating complex or escalated underwriting cases, including reviewing medical information and identifying potential risk concerns.

Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and make sound underwriting recommendations.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with Underwriting, Claims, Compliance, and other business partners.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to document and communicate findings clearly.

Ability to promote a collaborative culture, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.

Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with fraud-risk identification, forensic underwriting, or Special Investigations.

Experience with contestable claims reviews or post-issue underwriting analysis.

Experience working with Department of Insurance inquiries or state regulatory matters.

Estimated Salary: $86,000 - $105,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
