Role Description
Responsible for ensuring complete charge capture for services provided; including, but not limited to:

Daily charge reconciliation assistance

Audits
-
Data entry and missing charge follow-up

Assisting with chargemaster maintenance

Establishing procedures to support above
Responsibilities include:
-
Understanding chargemaster setup and assisting in the review and maintenance of the chargemaster
-
Maintaining basic knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding and revenue codes
-
Completing accurate and timely charge capture by reviewing clinical documentation and entering appropriate charges
-
Auditing billing process to ensure reasonableness and accuracy of information and charges
-
Distributing communication on charge-related issues to the proper department(s)

Providing input to team and leadership regarding deficits in documentation affecting accurate charges
-
Assisting with account fixes and resolving incomplete charging information as appropriate
-
Managing daily workqueues to resolve bill holds for charge-related issues and assisting in the resolution of billing edits
-
Assisting in reporting findings from workqueues, including erroneous or missing charges and follow-up analysis
-
Acting as first point of contact for clinical staff to assist with billing/charging questions and process improvement around charge capture

Educating staff to ensure coding and billing compliance and to reduce missed revenue opportunities

Training, monitoring, and supporting charge reconciliation processes in clinical areas

Assisting in the development and implementation of recommendations and action plans to minimize late or missing charges
-
Collaborating with other departments to identify/fix errors and improve denial rates for charges

Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
Post high school education
-
At least 1 year of prior chargemaster, billing and/or coding experience -OR- An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
-
Bachelorβs degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Health Information Management or related healthcare concentration area (Preferred)

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and/or Clinical Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) (Preferred)
Requirements

Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and revenue codes

Knowledge of medical terminology

Strong attention to detail and enjoyment of working in a fast-paced, collaborative team-based environment

Prioritization skills, PC skills, communication skills, and problem-solving skills

Outstanding customer service skills

Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, OneNote)

Epic experience preferred
