Role Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pricing Analyst, who will be responsible for maximizing spot market win rate and margin across client’s automated and manual pricing channels. This role monitors load boards on behalf of multiple customers, personally bids on exception freight that falls outside the parameters of automated pricing bot, and continuously evaluates bot performance to recommend rule and rate adjustments that improve coverage and competitiveness. The Pricing Analyst partners with carrier sales, operations, and technology teams to ensure pricing decisions are fast, accurate, and aligned with market conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Load Board Monitoring & Spot Bidding:
  • Monitor load boards and bid portals in real time across an assigned portfolio of customers.
  • Identify available spot freight opportunities and prioritize by margin potential, service risk, and customer importance.
  • Submit competitive, timely bids and rate confirmations directly on loads within pricing authority.
  • Track win/loss outcomes and reasons (rate, timing, capacity, service) to inform pricing strategy.
• Exception Freight Pricing:
  • Identify and price freight that cannot be bid automatically by the pricing bot due to non-standard lanes, equipment, service requirements, or market volatility.
  • Apply market knowledge, historical rate data, and carrier capacity insight to price exception loads accurately and quickly.
  • Escalate high-risk or high-value exceptions to leadership when pricing authority limits are reached.
  • Document pricing rationale for exception freight to support audit, margin review, and bot rule development.
• Bot Optimization & Rule Tuning:
  • Continuously evaluate automated bidding bot performance, including win rate, coverage, and margin by lane and customer.
  • Identify patterns in bot losses or missed opportunities and translate them into concrete rule, rate, or parameter change recommendations.
  • Partner with technology and pricing leadership to test, validate, and implement bot rule updates.
  • Maintain documentation of bot logic changes and their measured impact on win rate and margin.
• Analytics, Reporting & Forecasting:
  • Analyze spot market trends, lane-level rate movement, and competitive pricing to inform bidding strategy.
  • Maintain accurate records of bids, wins, losses, and exception pricing in CRM/pricing systems.
  • Deliver regular reporting on win rate, coverage, and margin performance by customer, lane, and channel (bot vs. manual).
  • Support forecasting of spot volume and pricing performance for leadership review.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage pricing, carrier sales, or transportation analytics.
• Working knowledge of load boards (DAT, Truckstop, or similar) and spot market bidding dynamics.
• Comfort making fast, high-volume pricing decisions under time pressure.
• Analytical mindset; able to translate performance data into specific, actionable rule or rate changes.
• Familiarity with automated pricing/bidding tools or a strong aptitude for learning rule-based systems.
• Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
