Role Description
The POC Accounting Manager will own percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition across our portfolio of roofing brands. This individual will be responsible for establishing POC accounting at both existing and newly acquired operating companies, including rebuilding historical POC accounting back to each company's acquisition date and rolling it forward through the current reporting period. The POC Accounting Manager will oversee job costing, validate job status and final margins, own monthly POC schedules, and serve as ARP's subject matter expert for percentage-of-completion accounting.
This is a highly visible position that will work closely with the Corporate Controller, Senior Accountants, operating company finance teams, Operations, integration teams, executive leadership, auditors, and lenders.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

6+ years of progressive accounting experience

Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with percentage-of-completion revenue recognition

Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 as applied to construction or long-term contracts

Hands-on experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and over/under billing analysis

Experience reviewing the work of other accounting professionals and training staff

Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets, lookups, pivot tables, and complex financial schedules

Strong understanding of month-end close processes

Ability to analyze job-level financial information and identify discrepancies or unusual trends

Ability to work effectively in a remote, multi-entity environment
Requirements

Establish POC accounting at existing ARP brands and newly acquired operating companies as they join the portfolio

Build historical POC accounting back to each brand's acquisition date and roll it forward through the current period

Reconcile historical POC accounting to the general ledger and opening balance sheet

Partner with the Corporate Controller and integration teams to establish POC timelines and readiness checkpoints for new acquisitions

Identify and resolve gaps in source data, job setup, cost coding, or accounting processes needed to support accurate POC reporting

Help develop scalable processes that can be implemented as ARP continues to acquire and integrate additional businesses

Oversee job costing across ARP brands to confirm that material, labor, subcontractor, and overhead costs are captured and coded to the correct jobs

Review cost accruals and period-end cutoff to ensure revenue and costs are recognized in the appropriate period

Investigate cost overruns, unbilled costs, missing charges, and other discrepancies

Partner with Operations and accounting teams to resolve job-costing issues

Help ensure consistent job-costing methodology and reporting across operating companies

Review job statuses each period to determine whether projects are complete or still in progress

Confirm job status within the CRM aligns with accounting records

Review estimated costs to complete and percent-complete calculations for accuracy and reasonableness

Analyze final margins on completed jobs and compare results against original estimates

Identify and report significant margin variances, trends, and potential issues to leadership

Monitor contract assets and liabilities, including costs and estimated earnings in excess of billings and billings in excess of costs and estimated earnings

Partner with operating company leadership to understand unusual job performance or margin activity

Own the monthly POC accounting schedules across all ARP brands

Establish preparation standards, review procedures, and final sign-off processes

Ensure POC schedules are completed accurately and on time as part of the monthly close

Serve as the primary point of contact for POC-related questions from the Corporate Controller, executive leadership, auditors, lenders, and operating company leaders

Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for month-end close, quarterly reviews, and annual audits

Ensure schedules and supporting documentation are audit-ready and consistently maintained

Establish and document standard operating procedures for POC accounting, job costing, and job status reviews

Standardize POC methodology, processes, and templates across ARP brands

Create training materials for corporate and operating company accounting teams

Deliver training and provide ongoing guidance to accounting staff

Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of POC accounting

Recommend process and system improvements across AccuLynx, QuickBooks Online, Power BI, and other financial and operational systems

Train and guide Senior Accountants responsible for preparing POC and job-cost schedules

Review accounting schedules and supporting work for accuracy and completeness

Provide clear and timely feedback and coaching

Help improve consistency and quality across the accounting team
