Role Description
The Non-QM Underwriter (Scenario Support) plays a critical role in supporting the Non-QM Underwriting team and the Sales Team by providing expert-level guidance on loan scenarios, conducting complex income analysis, facilitating investor exception requests, and assisting with credit decisions. This full-time, non-managerial position requires deep knowledge of Non-QM underwriting guidelines, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Serve as a primary point of contact for scenario inquiries and underwriting guidance related to Non-QM loan products.

Perform pre-submission income calculations for complex income types including bank statements, P&Ls, asset depletion, etc.

Assist Non-QM Underwriting Managers with guideline interpretation, condition clarification, and resolution of file-level questions.

Collaborate with investors to submit and track exception requests, working closely with Underwriters and Sales to gather necessary documentation.

Support the administrative and post-closing team on Non-QM investor suspense items as needed.

Maintain strong working knowledge of Non-QM investor guidelines and internal policies.

Contribute to team meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Expert knowledge of Non-QM income documentation and underwriting guidelines.

Recent experience in manual underwriting and credit review.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office software.

High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

Minimum 4 years of experience in mortgage underwriting or a related credit role.

Minimum 2 years specific to Non-QM loan products.

Estimated Rate of Pay: $38.50 - $43.30.
