[Hiring] Mortgage Underwriter @Direct Mortgage Loans

Role Description

Are you a detail-oriented mortgage professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? We are looking for an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team and help deliver a smooth, compliant, and efficient lending experience for our borrowers and internal partners.

• Underwrite mortgage loans using income calculations, asset documentation, appraisals, and agency guidelines
• Review and interpret loan products and programs
• Stay current on agency guideline updates and changes
• Communicate with Processors, Loan Officers, and Operations staff regarding conditions, documentation needs, and loan concerns
• Review files for final compliance and ensure eligibility for Clear to Close (CTC)
• Maintain expected turn times while ensuring accuracy, quality, and completeness of files
• Support additional underwriting-related tasks as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience required
• Previous agency underwriting experience preferred

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage time-sensitive deadlines in a high-volume environment
• Knowledge of FHA, VA, and USDA underwriting guidelines
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound guideline interpretations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Experience with Encompass preferred
