Role Description
Voyagu Group is a travel technology company that builds and scales travel businesses. We combine hands-on experience in the travel industry with our own technology platform to help travel agencies operate and grow.
We are looking for a
Lead Accountant / Accounting Manager
to take ownership of our accounting function as the group grows. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility. You'll work closely with business leadership and CFO, improve accounting processes, and help build a reliable financial foundation for our growing business.
We're looking for someone with strong accounting expertise, sound business judgment, and the independence to make decisions and get things done.
Qualifications
-
5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including ownership of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
-
Strong understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP, including accrual accounting, revenue recognition, cut-off, and financial statement preparation.
-
Full balance sheet ownership: experience reconciling key accounts, investigating discrepancies, and correcting accounting errors.
-
End-to-end accounting experience: understands how transactions flow through the GL into the P&L and Balance Sheet, not just one area such as AP or AR.
-
Experience with multiple legal entities, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
-
Experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems.
-
Hands-on and independent: comfortable reviewing transactions, posting adjustments, troubleshooting GL issues, and closing the books personally.
-
Strong ownership and professional judgment: able to take responsibility for the accounting function, make day-to-day accounting decisions independently, identify problems proactively, and propose solutions rather than constantly escalating issues.
-
Business maturity and stakeholder management: comfortable working directly with management, FP&A, operations, and external advisors. Able to explain financial issues clearly, challenge incorrect assumptions, and drive issues to resolution.
-
Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Requirements
-
Experience accounting for US legal entities and practical US GAAP reporting.
-
Background in Big Four audit followed by hands-on in-house accounting.
-
Experience in international, technology-driven, or high-transaction-volume businesses.
-
Experience with QuickBooks specifically.
-
Experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior accountants.
-
Familiarity with intercompany accounting and related-party transactions.
Key Responsibilities
-
Own general ledger accounting, ensuring accurate financial records and reliable financial statements.
-
Manage the monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and adjustments.
-
Maintain accurate Balance Sheet and P&L reporting, investigating discrepancies and correcting accounting errors.
-
Ensure proper accounting treatment of business transactions and maintain supporting documentation.
-
Review and supervise accounting work, improving processes and maintaining consistent accounting standards.
-
Manage intercompany accounting, including balances, reconciliations, and related entries.
-
Take ownership of accounting issues, working independently with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
-
Collaborate with FP&A, providing accurate financial data, explaining GL balances, and resolving reporting discrepancies.
What Success Looks Like
-
Accurate, well-maintained accounting records.
-
Reliable monthly financial statements.
-
A consistent and predictable month-end close.
-
Accounting issues identified and resolved proactively.
-
Clear communication with stakeholders.
-
An accounting function that operates independently, with strong ownership and minimal day-to-day supervision.
