[Hiring] Lead Accountant @Metropolis Condominium Management

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and customer-focused Lead Accountant to join our property management team. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing accounting operations while maintaining strong communication with clients, property managers, team members, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines strong property management accounting expertise with excellent customer service and leadership skills. This position requires someone who can confidently interact with clients, manage accounting priorities under pressure, and effectively lead both in-person and remote/off-site personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of managed properties and associations.
• Serve as a customer-facing accounting lead, communicating professionally with clients, boards, property managers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Review financial statements, reconciliations, general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting reports for accuracy and timely completion.
• Ensure accounting deadlines, reporting requirements, and internal controls are consistently met.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and client concerns promptly and professionally.
• Provide excellent customer service and clearly explain financial and accounting matters to clients who may not have an accounting background.
• Manage, train, support, and provide direction to in-person, remote, and off-site accounting personnel.
• Coordinate effectively with property management and operations teams.
• Prioritize multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, controls, and service quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within the property management industry.
• Strong knowledge of property management accounting practices and financial reporting.
• Proven experience supervising or managing in-person, remote, or off-site personnel.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work directly with clients.
• Ability to remain professional, organized, and solution-oriented while working under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team, establish accountability, and meet deadlines.
• Must currently reside within the Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC area.
