[Hiring] Junior Underwriter @High Rise Financial

Role Description

As an Underwriter, the following will be your duties:

• Evaluate potential client cases as an unbiased third party.
• Assess the likelihood of winning cases and estimate projected settlement amounts to advise on offers.
• Case types include but are not limited to car accidents, slips and falls, premises, wrongful death, medical malpractice, etc.
• Work with Sales and Medical teams to evaluate the strength of pre-settlement funding cases, determining approval or denials.
• Provide educated estimates on personal injury case worths based on various factors, including:
  • Extent and severity of injuries
  • Insurance coverage of both parties
  • History of prior accidents or traffic violations
  • Police reports
  • Evidence of liability
  • Existing liens against the settlement

Qualifications

• Personal Injury Attorney and/or at least 3 years in the Personal Injury field.
• Experience in reviewing medical records, including knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience with evaluating personal injury cases for their merits and value.
• Experience with negotiating settlements regarding personal injury clients.
• Analytical mind, skilled at assessing multiple factors to solve issues and problems.
• Attention to detail is key; every detail in an insurance policy can affect coverage decisions.
• Comfort with computers and daily use of mathematics.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and telephone manners.
• Ability to think and act independently.
• Cool and calm under pressure, with quick and efficient task follow-through.
• A quiet place at home to work in.
• Consistent and reliable internet access.
• A smartphone.
• A headset for communication.
• Your own computer (with a camera).
• A bank account that accepts payment wires (required).

• Hours: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts with two options:
  • 9:15am PST – 6:00pm PST
  • 9:15am EST – 6:00pm EST
