Role Description

Support an international finance team with day-to-day transactional accounting and system maintenance in this remote role.

Remote (South Africa), 9-5 UK

Salary: R20 000 - R27 000 p/m

The Junior Accountant supports the offshore accounting function by assisting with day-to-day transactional finance activities, including:

• Accounts payable
• Accounts receivable
• Bank processing
• Core system maintenance

This role exists to ensure:

• The accuracy of financial records
• The timely processing of payments and receipts
• The maintenance of accounting systems

It contributes to the business by supporting:

• Month-end close
• Audit preparation
• Ongoing process improvements

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Hands-on experience using Xero
• Intermediate spreadsheet skills, including basic formulas and reconciliations
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively in a remote, multi-timezone environment
• Legally authorized to work in South Africa with a reliable, high-speed internet connection and professional home office

Requirements

• Manage aged receivables, including billing, allocation of receipts, and debt chasing
• Manage aged payables, including invoice coding, processing, and supplier query resolution
• Process weekly payment runs, including creator payments and operating expenses
• Perform bank postings and assist with bank reconciliations
• Update financial and commercial systems, including Xero
• Support month-end close activities and annual audit preparation
• Identify process inefficiencies and support ad hoc projects
