[Hiring] Intern - Finance & Accounting @Insight Molecular Diagnostics Inc

Role Description

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Intern to join our team for a learning and development experience around corporate accounting and finance roles in a public company. This role is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience beyond classroom theory, helping the intern build highly marketable skills in corporate accounting, financial analysis, and business process evaluation. The intern will work directly under the mentorship of executive finance leadership and collaborate with key department heads across the organization.

• Financial & Accounting Operations: Assisting with month-end close procedures, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and routine financial reporting.
• Accounts Payable & Procure-to-Pay Processing: Assisting with the full accounts payable workflow, including vendor invoice processing, 3-way matching (POs, receipts, invoices), payment batch preparation, vendor inquiries, and invoice coding.
• Data & Business Analytics: Analyzing transactional data, supporting financial modeling, assisting with variance analysis, and evaluating business processes for efficiency.
• Systems Exposure: Utilizing enterprise financial software, general ledger systems, and reporting tools to support daily finance operations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with key department teams across the organization to gather financial data and understand operational workflows.
• Special Projects: Supporting ad-hoc accounting, finance, or analytical projects as assigned by finance leadership.
• Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) & Budgeting: Assisting with financial modeling, tracking budget vs. actual variance across departments, supporting quarterly rolling forecasts, and preparing periodic financial reports.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with core accounting principles (GAAP) and basic financial statements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data tables, functions, basic modeling).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

• Duration: Minimum of 7 weeks (coordinated around the intern’s academic schedule).
• Weekly Commitment: Minimum 20 hours per week.
• Total Program Hours: Target of 270+ cumulative hours over the course of the term.
