Job Role: Intermediate Accountant - Part-time

Compensation range: $1,500 AUD - $2,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to require roughly 15-20 hours per week. As a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your schedule, but availability for occasional collaboration during AU business hours is preferred.

This is a genuine ground-floor opportunity. You'll work directly with the founder, take real ownership of client work, and grow your skills and responsibilities as the practice expands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB, including bank reconciliations, coding and month-end processes
• Prepare BAS, IAS and GST workpapers ready for review and lodgment
• Prepare end-of-year financial data and workpapers for individual, company and trust tax returns
• Prepare client data for import into LodgeiT for tax preparation and lodgment
• Assist with SMSF processing and annual compliance in BGL
• Support corporate secretarial tasks such as ASIC updates and company records in NowInfinity
• Maintain accurate, well-organized client files and workpapers
• Flag queries, discrepancies and missing information clearly and early
• Support practice administration during quieter periods, including document management, client follow-ups, system updates and general catch-up work

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on work with Australian clients
• Strong working knowledge of Australian tax and compliance, including GST, BAS and end-of-year processes
• Advanced Xero proficiency (essential)
• Experience with BGL for SMSF work (highly regarded)
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, MYOB, LodgeiT and NowInfinity (a strong advantage; training available)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Excellent written and spoken English with clear, proactive communication
• A self-starter who works confidently with minimal supervision and takes ownership of deadlines
• A flexible, can-do attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever the practice needs support

Work Arrangement & Expectations

This is a remote role that may be set up as either an independent contractor engagement or via an Employer of Record (EOR), depending on client preferences and legal structure.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

• Be available for meetings and collaboration during core [AEST or PHT] business hours
• Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
