Role Description
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller plays a critical role in managing StoreForce’s SaaS financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, scalable billing and revenue recognition processes, treasury functions, and compliance. This role is hands-on and execution focused, supporting a multi-entity, multi-currency contract-based SaaS business serving retail customers globally.
The Controller partners closely with Sales, Client Delivery, Development, Product, and Operations, and serves as a key contributor to audit readiness, process automation, and monthly operating cadence.

Team Leadership

Be a catalyst for change and contribute as a leader to the overall operation and culture of accountability, fostering core values and standards.

Manage, coach, and develop the accounting team: drive accountability, deadlines, and continuous improvement across the finance function.

Support the preparation of updates for company board meetings, as required.

Operations
-
Lead the monthly close process within Sage Intacct, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.

Ensure financial results are accurate, complete, and delivered on a timely basis.

Lead audit activities, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with external auditors.

Manage the accounting and corporate taxation with the CFO for all global entities, including transfer pricing and sales tax remittances.

Own SaaS revenue recognition including reviewing billing operations, including monthly, annual, and multi-year subscription invoicing.

Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with Company policy including contract review, performance obligations, and deferred revenue tracking.

Partner with Sales, Client Success, and Legal on contract terms impacting billings, revenue, renewals, and amendments.

Support ongoing automation and improvement of customer billing and order-to-cash processes.

Treasury, Cash & Forecasting

Oversee the preparation of cash activities, including bank reconciliations, receipts, and disbursements.

Oversee the preparation of short and medium-term cash flow forecasts within a multi-currency environment to support liquidity planning.

Monitor working capital, including collections, deferred revenue, and vendor payment timing.

Lead banking relationships and treasury controls.

Payroll & People Related Accounting

Oversee payroll processing in coordination with HR and external payroll providers across regions.

Ensure accurate accounting for payroll, commissions, bonuses, benefits, and related accruals.

Support payroll automation initiatives and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
-
Maintain and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation.

Support optimization and scaling of Sage Intacct, billing tools, and reporting processes.

Apply AI in finance workflows (close, reconciliations, flux/variance analysis, FP&A, billing/revenue ops) to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.

Demonstrate strong command of data modeling and reporting, KPI design, and building “single source of truth” datasets for finance, including trend analysis and drivers of MRR/ARR, churn, cash, and margin.

Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management

Act as a finance partner to department leaders, providing insight into spend, variances, and trends.

Support leadership with financial analysis related to bookings, revenue, margins, and operating performance.

Interface with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, brokers, and professional advisors.

Support ad hoc analysis, special projects, and cross-functional initiatives as required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) and Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) customer cubes
-
Cash burn, runway, and liquidity — monthly cash forecast variance
-
Departmental spend and operating leverage — monthly budget vs actual, forecast updates, and variance commentary quality.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent designation preferred but not required
-
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within a SaaS or subscription-based business

Prior experience as a Controller of a high growth private equity backed business, ideally in the enterprise software or SaaS space

Strong working knowledge of ASPE and US GAAP

Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct or similar mid-market ERP systems

Experience supporting SaaS billing, deferred revenue, and contract accounting

Strong Excel skills and comfort working with detailed data and reconciliations

Clear communicator with the ability to partner across Finance, Sales, Operations, and Product.
