Role Description

Serves as front-line support for the oncology-related services within Piedmont Healthcare. Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing accounts for oncology-related services to ensure completeness prior to patient arrival.
• Preparing for patient visit(s) by:
  • Verifying insurance coverage.
  • Confirming benefits.
  • Determining authorization requirements.
  • Initiating and obtaining pre-certification/prior authorization for recurring visits.
  • Creating estimates to determine pre-service patient liability.
• Reviewing treatment and therapy plans, confirming frequency/length as needed, verifying orders with administration, and pulling additional clinical information from required information systems to support accurate financial clearance.
• Helping reduce barriers to timely oncology care by:
  • Identifying financial risk/financial distress.
  • Educating patients on coverage and expected out-of-pocket responsibility.
  • Providing information on financial resources to patients/guarantors.
  • Coordinating referrals to appropriate internal and external support resources.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university Preferred
• 3 years experience in Rev Cycle or related experience in healthcare, with one of those years working specifically within Healthcare Revenue Cycle Required
• 4 years healthcare Revenue Cycle experience preferred
• HFMA certification and/or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative Preferred
• Prior Epic experience Preferred
• Previous experience in the oncology setting Preferred
• Experience providing culturally sensitive support and coordinating resources for patients with complex barriers to care Preferred
• Experience with validating NCCN guidelines Preferred
