Role Description
This is a one-year placement that gives you hands-on experience inside the finance function of a real, operating tech-led bank. You'll work across everything from journals and reconciliations to AI-powered process improvements, getting hands-on with the platforms and workflows that keep a regulated bank running. From day one, you'll own real work that the team depends on and leave with practical skills in accounting, systems, and emerging tools that most graduates only encounter in theory.

Kept accounts payable, expenses, and month-end processes running accurately and on time.

Brought genuine improvements to at least one area of workflows by streamlining manual and time-consuming processes into something faster, repeatable, and auditable.
To Do This You'll Own

Supporting the preparation of month-end P&L and balance sheet statements alongside the Financial Accounting Manager.

Preparing and posting accounting journals with accuracy and care.

Managing the accounts payable system and process end-to-end.
-
Running the expense claims process and keeping it moving smoothly.

Supporting billing and accounts receivable reconciliation.

Helping with the year-end audit process and departmental (Guild) reporting.

Developing new accounting procedures and building data tools β including using AI β to make processes faster, more accurate, and more repeatable.
Qualifications

Enrolled on a Finance related degree and are on-track to achieve a 2.1.

A genuine passion for numbers and how they tell a story about a business.

Exceptional attention to detail β you notice the thing that doesn't add up.

Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand why, not just what.

The drive to improve how things work, with the organisational skills to follow through.

Confidence with spreadsheets and a willingness to get fluent in new tools quickly.

A love of writing β contributing to written documentation with clarity and readability.
Bonus Points

Any prior work experience in financial services β even brief exposure helps.

Experience using AI tools to manage, clean, or analyse data.

Familiarity with tax concepts or compliance requirements.
