[Hiring] Finance & AI Automation Intern @Soda Data

Role Description

You'll join the Finance team that covers Soda Data NV (Belgium), Soda Data Inc. (US) and NannyML NV, the Belgian company we acquired in 2025. The work is real from week one:

• Invoice processing
• Month-end reporting
• Payroll data preparation
• Expense management
• Intercompany recharges across three entities, two currencies and three accounting systems

The second half of the job is making that work disappear:

• Finance at Soda builds agentically: Claude and other AI tools are part of the daily workflow.
• Learn a process, run it until you know it cold, and then automate it.
• Choose the right tool for automation and defend your choice.
• Every automation ships with checks and reconciliations that prove its output.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Run core finance processes: invoice processing, month-end reporting, payroll data preparation, expense management, and intercompany recharges.
• Automate processes using Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub, Soda MCP, or smart spreadsheet design.
• Build in checks: reconciliations and controls in everything you automate.
• Document processes for colleagues and AI agents to follow.
• Support the wider Finance team with reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc projects across our Belgian, Dutch, and US entities.

Qualifications

• A finance background: studying towards or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Proof that you build: experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) and/or building automations, scripts, or advanced spreadsheet solutions.
• Accuracy as a habit: attention to detail in verifying numbers.
• Independent with new tools: ability to pick up GitHub, MCP-based integrations, and finance systems without a course.
• Proactive: ability to spot manual work and propose solutions.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Availability during European business hours: fully remote from any compatible time zone, or hybrid if near Amsterdam.

Requirements

• Experience with accounting software (e.g. Exact Online, QuickBooks) or ERP systems.
• Exposure to Python, SQL, or API-based automation.
• Prior startup or fast-paced work experience.
