Role Description
The Fannie Mae DUS Managing Director leads the agency lending platform focused on Fannie Mae Delegated Underwriting and Servicing (DUS) programs. This leader is responsible for setting strategic direction, building operational excellence, and driving production goals for the Fannie Mae business line. The role requires deep expertise in agency lending, multifamily finance, and relationship management to ensure competitive positioning against alternative capital sources such as Freddie Mac, CMBS, Life Companies, Banks, and Credit Unions.
The Managing Director will collaborate with Fannie Maeβs Customer Engagement team on waiver requests, pricing, guide changes, and transaction structuring, while advocating for DUS lenders through active participation in the DUS CEO peer group. This leader will oversee underwriting and closing functions to ensure alignment with origination goals, maintain high credit standards, and deliver superior client service.
Your Responsibilities

Advocate for DUS lenders through participation in the βDUS CEOβ peer group to enhance Fannie Maeβs platform competitiveness.

Work with senior management to set annual production goals and monitor performance.

Strategic partner with Fannie Mae Customer Engagement team on waiver requests, pricing, guide changes, and transaction structuring.

Oversee underwriting and closing functions to support origination and maintain high credit standards.

Actively manage a portfolio exceeding $1B in Fannie Mae and balance sheet loans, including permanent, construction, and bridge financing.

Deploy extensive agency lending experience to quickly vet, size, and quote new loan requests, improving quote turnaround and deal capture rates.

Senior Leader oversight of the processing, underwriting, and closing of Fannie Mae loans to ensure collaboration and client satisfaction.

Utilize construction and bridge lending expertise to attract and retain high-quality developers and multifamily investors.

Develop and maintain robust client, broker, and property-level databases to ensure pipeline stability and origination volume.

Cultivate internal referral relationships through active communication, education, and collaboration with branch networks and other departments.

Assist Relationship Managers with marketing, waiver/pricing requests, and asset management issues as needed.

Establish correspondent relationships with other lenders and brokers to expand Fannie Mae production.

Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics.

Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and community events to strengthen relationships and market presence.
Qualifications

Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.

15+ years of experience in Banking, Finance, or related field.

10+ years of experience in multifamily agency lending, including Fannie Mae DUS programs.

Proven ability to lead and grow an origination platform.

Total Base Pay Range: 155,100.00 - 333,500.00 USD Annual.
