[Hiring] Corporate Controller @Armada

YDay - Armada is hiring a remote Corporate Controller. πŸ’Έ Salary: $225,000 β€” $300,000 usd πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

We're hiring a builder-minded Director, Corporate Controller to lead the global accounting function and take it to public-company standard. You will set the strategy for the controllership organization, own the close and accounting policy, build the controls environment, and lead the accounting workstreams behind our IPO readiness. The decisions you make will shape Armada's financial foundation for years to come.

This is not a maintenance role. You will architect the processes and systems a much larger, multi-entity, manufacturing-and-deployment business will run on, while staying close enough to the work to personally resolve the hardest technical questions.

What You'll Do

  • Own the global month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; drive it to a predictable 7-10 business days
  • Deliver accurate, timely US GAAP financial statements, including multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency translation across international subsidiaries
  • Own the accounting content of board, investor, and lender reporting packages, and ensure ongoing debt covenant compliance
  • Establish and document the company's accounting policies and technical positions, and defend them with auditors and senior leadership
  • Lead revenue recognition (ASC 606) on complex, milestone-heavy hardware, deployment, software, and services contracts, including multiple performance obligations and variable consideration
  • Advise sales, legal, and deal teams on the revenue and accounting implications of complex customer and government contract terms before signature
  • Own accounting for leases (ASC 842), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), debt and financing transactions, contract costs (ASC 340-40), and foreign operations (ASC 830)
  • Own the external audit relationship and lead the annual audit, negotiating significant accounting and scope matters with the audit partner
  • Define the SOX readiness roadmap and direct the design and implementation of internal controls to achieve a SOX-ready control environment within 12 months
  • Own the accounting workstreams for IPO readiness, partnering with legal, FP&A, and external advisors on timeline and deliverables, and drive process improvements across finance
  • Own accounting and compliance for US government contracts, including invoicing and cost compliance
  • Partner with tax and treasury to set strategy for intercompany, transfer pricing, statutory audits, and local filings across international entities
  • Set the accounting systems roadmap; own and scale the ERP (NetSuite) and surrounding stack: procure-to-pay, billing, payroll, inventory/MRP, and consolidation tools
  • Develop new methods to automate, standardize, and document close and reporting processes as the business scales
  • Build, lead, and develop a growing accounting and tax organization, including hiring and developing managers
  • Help establish the finance organization's strategic plans and objectives, and translate them into a multi-year controllership roadmap covering people, process, systems, and controls
  • Cascade functional strategy into clear goals, priorities, and evaluation criteria for the accounting and tax team
  • Own the accounting department budget, including headcount, audit and advisory fees, and systems spend
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the VP Finance and executive team on the accounting implications of strategic decisions, transactions, and financings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; active CPA license
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years leading an accounting function as a Controller or Director at a high-growth company
  • A track record of building and leading multi-layer accounting teams, including hiring and developing managers
  • Big 4 or national-firm public accounting experience
  • Deep US GAAP judgment, especially ASC 606 on complex hardware-plus-services arrangements
  • A track record leading external audits and building SOX-ready controls before they were required
  • Multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation experience across international subsidiaries
  • Comfort with ambiguity and pace
  • Executive presence: ability to explain complex accounting matters clearly
  • Experience owning a departmental budget and multi-year functional roadmap

Backgrounds We Value

  • IPO or S-1 experience, or Controller time at a newly public company
  • Government contracting accounting (FAR, DFARS, DCAA, CAS) and systems
  • Experience in data centers, edge computing, robotics, aerospace/defense, or industrial hardware
  • International operations in the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, or Asia-Pacific

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision (subsidized cost)
  • Health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending accounts (FSA), and dependent care FSAs (DCFSA)
  • Retirement plan options, including 401(k) and Roth 401(k)
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO)
  • 14 paid company holidays per year

Compensation

You're a Great Fit if You're

  • A go-getter with a growth mindset
  • A detail-oriented problem-solver
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative team player
  • Highly organized and results-driven
