[Hiring] Controller @Connor Consulting

Today - Connor Consulting is hiring a remote Controller. 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: USA

Role Description

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented and experienced Controller to lead our global accounting operations as we scale the firm in revenue and global reach. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will own the month-end close, financial reporting, technical accounting, audit and the operational integrity of our recently implemented systems landscape, including NetSuite.

This is a private equity–backed, high-growth platform with an active M&A roadmap, and the Controller will be a critical partner in scaling the finance function to support that trajectory.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical accountant and operator with deep expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition across complex professional services fee structures, multi-currency consolidations, and post-close integration of acquired entities. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, PE-backed global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting Operations & Financial Close
    • Own the global month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of consolidated financial statements.
    • Lead the general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity across all global entities.
    • Manage multi-currency accounting across all international entities.
    • Own the global consolidation process and ensure US GAAP compliance across all reporting entities.
    • Assist our Sr. Financial Analyst in the preparation and review of monthly internal financial reporting packages for the CFO, executive team, board, and PE sponsor, including variance analysis and KPI commentary.
    • Maintain and continuously improve accounting policies, and internal controls in preparation for scale and future audit readiness.
    • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and outsourced accounting partners across all jurisdictions.
  • Accounting Team Leadership & Development
    • Provide strategic leadership to the accounting and finance team, promoting a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
    • Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that encourages collaboration, open communication, and mutual respect.
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing team members through coaching, feedback, and career development planning.
    • Promote cross-functional collaboration to strengthen relationships and reinforce a unified company culture.
    • Lead by example in upholding company values, driving employee engagement, and supporting retention efforts.
    • Implement performance management processes that reinforce accountability while nurturing growth and development.
  • Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)
    • Serve as the technical accounting expert on ASC 606 across the firm’s full range of fee structures, including Milestone Billing, Fixed Fee, Time & Expense, Contingency/Success Fee, and Base + Contingency engagements.
    • Review client contracts to identify performance obligations, variable consideration, constraint analysis, and appropriate timing of revenue recognition (point-in-time vs. over-time).
    • Maintain technical accounting memos, document revenue policies, and partner with operations and delivery leadership to ensure billing, WIP, and revenue recognition align with contract terms.
  • Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
    • Drive optimization and post-implementation maturity of NetSuite, including chart of accounts design, multi-book/multi-currency configuration, and revenue recognition modules.
    • Leverage the integrated NetSuite and HubSpot ecosystem to streamline quote-to-cash, project accounting, and management reporting workflows.
    • Design and implement scalable internal controls, automation, and process improvements to support the firm’s growth 3x growth trajectory.
  • M&A Integration & PE Reporting
    • Partner with the CFO on financial due diligence, purchase accounting (ASC 805), opening balance sheet preparation, and post-close integration of acquired entities.
    • Lead accounting integration of acquired companies onto NetSuite and the firm’s standardized policies, chart of accounts, and close calendar.
    • Assist FP&A in the delivery of lender and PE sponsor reporting deliverables, including quarterly financial packages, covenant compliance, and ad hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition across professional services fee structures.
  • Strong working knowledge of multi-currency accounting.
  • Direct experience with M&A roll-ups, including financial due diligence, purchase accounting (ASC 805), opening balance sheets, and post-close accounting integration.
  • Proven experience leading or supporting NetSuite implementations, optimizations, or post-go-live maturity work.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or comparable CRM–to–ERP integrations and quote-to-cash workflows.
  • Experience preparing reporting packages for private equity sponsors, lenders, and boards in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote, fast-paced, PE-backed environment.
