Role Description
WorkSafeNB is seeking to fill a 2-year term contract position of Business System Owner - Finance. Reporting to the Director, Accounting Operations and Benefit Payments, the Business System Owner (BSO) is the single point of business accountability for the value, performance, and long‑term effectiveness of Finance-related business systems, which includes Finance, Procurement, and Payroll systems.

The BSO ensures that systems continue to support organizational strategy, operational needs, policy and regulatory requirements, and desired business outcomes throughout their lifecycle.

The BSO represents the voice and authority of the business and makes decisions about priorities, trade‑offs, risks, and value while partnering closely with IT Product Owners, Solution Delivery teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.

The BSO provides strategic and operational leadership for Finance-related system capabilities within the organization.

They ensure system functionality is aligned with business processes, organizational priorities, compliance requirements, and user needs.

The BSO serves as the primary business owner for Finance-related systems and partners closely with IT Product Owners, Solution Delivery teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to support system optimization, enhancements, release planning, and ongoing operations.

They ensure business processes and requirements are effectively translated into system functionality that enables efficient, sustainable, and people-centered outcomes.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or Information Systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

5 to 7 years of combined experience in Finance-related business operations and enterprise systems (e.g., ERP and other core operational systems).

Demonstrated understanding of full-cycle accounting principles, including general knowledge of procurement and payroll processes.

Demonstrated critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations, assess competing priorities, evaluate risks, and make sound, well-reasoned decisions.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional discussions, align diverse stakeholders, and facilitate decision-making on priorities, trade-offs, and outcomes.

Solid understanding of how technology enables business processes and outcomes.

Experience supporting organizational change, adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives is an asset.

A CPA designation would be considered an asset.
Requirements

Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week.

Pay Scale: $92,248.80 to $108,528.00 annually.
