Role Description

If you’re an accountant ready to take ownership of your client work and build real depth in Australian taxation — this role is for you. You’ll be working full-time from the Philippines for an established Australian chartered accounting firm, preparing financial statements, tax returns, and BAS for a diverse client base. This role sits between Graduate and Senior Accountant level, offering growing autonomy with support from Senior Accountants and Managers.

Responsibilities as an AU Accountant (Tax & Public Practice):

• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, BAS, FBT, and related compliance work
• Manage your own workflow and client jobs to meet deadlines and quality standards
• Respond to client queries on routine accounting and taxation matters
• Apply Australian Accounting Standards and ATO requirements across client engagements
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and compliance obligations
• Identify risks, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities in financial data
• Assist with advisory work such as cashflow analysis and budgeting
• Perform technical research and escalate complex issues when required
• Support junior accountants through review notes and informal coaching
• Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the firm

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a public practice accounting environment
• Experience working on Australian taxation engagements (e.g. tax returns, BAS, or financial statements)
• CA or CPA qualification completed or currently in progress
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
• Clear English communication skills — written and verbal
• Good time management and ability to manage multiple client deadlines
• Reliable internet and dedicated home workspace

Requirements

• Preferred – Not Required: Experience with Xero or MYOB
