Role Description
We're looking for an Associate Underwriter (Contingency) to join our team in a role that sits at the intersection of underwriting support and account administration. This is a hands-on position for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to build deep expertise in specialty insurance.
You'll work directly alongside our underwriters to keep the book running smoothly β from preparing quotes, binders and policy documents to tracking renewals and supporting accounting functions. This is not a passive support role. You'll have real responsibility from day one and broad exposure to how a specialty MGA operates end to end.
Responsibilities:

Prepare rating, quotation, and binding documentation for new and renewal submissions

Track new business and renewal pipelines to ensure business is processed timely and efficiently, and that any follow-ups are met

Monitor and track aggregate exposure across the portfolio and flag items requiring underwriter attention

Generate and process policy documents with accuracy and attention to detail

Book new and renewal business in our insurance management system, ensuring accuracy of policy data, premiums, and coverage terms at entry

Support accounting functions, including premium and commission calculations as needed

Maintain organized records and assist with bordereaux and reporting as needed

Contribute to special projects and process improvements as the team and book evolve

Provide clients with a service that supports the positive image of the company
Qualifications

Bachelorβs Degree or equivalent experience

1-3 years of Insurance experience, Entertainment preferred

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; comfortable with formulas, data organization, and basic calculations

Self-starter who is organized and able to work independently as well as collaboratively as needed

Solid math fundamentals β ability to accurately calculate premiums, commissions, and allocations

Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to correspond professionally with brokers and carriers and collaborate with colleagues

High attention to detail and a low tolerance for errors in documentation
