Role Description

The Assistant Controller supports the VP, Finance and Accounting in leading the accounting and financial reporting function for ACRS and its affiliated companies. This role oversees the monthly and annual close process, produces multi-entity financial statements, manages the audit process, and ensures all reporting is accurate, timely, and US GAAP-compliant. The Assistant Controller also strengthens internal controls, drives process and system improvements, and supports budgeting, forecasting, and M&A activity so leadership has reliable financial information for decision-making.

• Prepare or review workpapers, journal entries, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts for the monthly and annual financial close.
• Produce monthly and annual financial statements for multiple entities and business units; ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and established policies and procedures.
• Research accounting pronouncements and develop policies for new, changing, or existing business transactions.
• Actively review monthly billings and monitor collections on outstanding accounts receivable.
• Drive continuous business process improvement, primarily through the design and implementation of technologies.
• Analyze complex customer sales contracts and arrangements to determine proper revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606 and US GAAP.
• Manage the audit process relevant to assigned areas.
• Contribute to the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Partner with VP, Finance & Accounting in M&A diligence.
• Assist in the development of enterprise-wide policy and procedure documentation for all key accounting and financial reporting functions.
• Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reporting supporting management decision-making as required.
• Complete all required SOP training and company-required trainings as assigned and when updated.
• Maintain all required licenses and certifications and ensure they remain current and in good standing.
• Travel to company meetings or site locations as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 5 years in public accounting and/or corporate accounting with supervisory experience.
• Experience in a Site Management Organization or Clinical Research Organizations is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and technical accounting research expertise.
• Clear grasp of accounting and financial processes (financial statement close process, analytical review, annual reporting, etc.).
• Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions, due diligence, and purchase accounting.

Requirements

• Certified Public Accountant (preferred).
• Experience with Oracle NetSuite (preferred) or other similar multi-entity integrated accounting software.
• Experience with CTMS (e.g. RealTime or Clinical Conductor) preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
