Role Description
With general direction, utilizing an understanding of accounting principles, the Area Accountant performs accounting activities to record, analyze and monitor financial information. The incumbent prepares financial reports in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance with company accounting policies. The Area Accountant may act as a resource for accounting and general administrative staff and is responsible for a broad array of accounting duties.

Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions.

Prepares monthly and quarterly operational performance reports.

Assists the Area Controller in ensuring there are proper internal controls in place.

Reconciles balance sheet accounts and statistical data.

May assist the Area Controller in the management of accounting personnel.

Supports the Area Controller during the annual budget and interim forecasting process.

Supports the accounting aspects of capital expenditures, transfers, and retirements.

Assists with periodic financial audits including internal audits, external audits, and peer reviews.

Provides support and responds to information requests from corporate and regional financial management.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
Qualifications

Accounting experience.

A thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Intermediate MS Excel skills.

Demonstrated initiative to research and follow up on non-standard situations.

Effective and professional interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Experience with general ledger software and other industry programs.

Requirements

The pay range for this position is $80,168.40 to $102,400.00.
