[Hiring] Accounting Associate @Jane

Role Description

Hi, I'm Josh Andler, and I've been at Jane for about six years. I lead the Finance team, where we make sure Jane has clear, reliable financial information so leaders across the company can make thoughtful decisions that support our mission to help the helpers.

Our small but mighty team owns a lot of ground, including:

• Managing all money leaving Jane, including payroll and bill payments.
• Preparing financial statements to provide decision-makers with clean, actionable data.
• Combining financial data with information from People, BI, and Marketing to tell the story of Jane's direction.

This Accounting Associate role starts with payroll. You'll become the person on our team who understands Canadian, US, and UK payroll better than anyone else, and you'll cross-train on accounts payable along the way. It's detailed, deadline-driven work, and it's also one of the best seats in Finance to learn how a company actually runs.

Your role can grow over time as you build the fundamentals here first.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to prioritize when several tasks are due at once.
• High level of integrity and discretion when working with confidential information.
• Curiosity about the reasons behind the work.
• Eagerness to learn and seek mentorship.
• Some experience in payroll or accounting is helpful, but a solid grasp of accounting fundamentals is sufficient.
• An accounting degree and/or working towards the CPA designation is an asset, not a requirement.

Requirements

• Become our payroll guru, understanding Canadian, US, and UK payroll standards.
• Collaborate with the People team to ensure HRIS is updated and payroll is accurate.
• Communicate clearly and kindly with everyone across Jane.
• Keep financial data organized and processes well-documented.
• Cross-train on accounts payable within Float (expense management system).
• Identify repetitive parts of payroll and AP that AI can automate.
