[Hiring] Accountant (Civil Construction) @Scale-X Solutions

Role Description

We are seeking a detail-orientated and reliable accountant/bookkeeper with experience in the civil construction industry and strong proficiency in Xero accounting software. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and support project-based accounting requirements.

• Manage daily bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable
• Maintain accurate financial records using Xero
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Prepare monthly financial reports (profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Monitor project costs, budgets, and job profitability (WIP reporting)
• Process payroll and ensure compliance with local labor laws
• Handle invoicing, progress billing, and retention tracking
• Prepare and lodge tax filings (e.g., VAT/GST, income tax, etc.)
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2 years + experience as an Accountant, preferably in civil construction (hard requirement)
• Strong hands-on experience with Xero (certification is a plus)
• Familiarity with construction accounting practices (job costing, WIP, progress billing)
• Solid understanding of financial reporting and reconciliation processes
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Requirements

• Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers
• Knowledge of compliance requirements in the construction industry
• Experience with payroll systems and statutory contributions
• CPA or equivalent certification (advantage but not required)
