Role Description

The Accountant 4 manages a team of accounting technicians to carry out the operations of the Department of Law’s Reimbursable Service Agreement Section requiring an in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, theories, and practices. The incumbent develops, updates, and implements policies and procedures to ensure effective program financial management efficiency and compliance. The Accountant 4 delivers program financial information to Division management to inform decision-making. Additionally, the Accountant 4 prepares the department’s legal services rates submitted annually for approval and inclusion to the State-wide Cost Allocation Plan.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general ledger accounting and control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques.
• Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques for establishing internal control activities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving abilities to identify issues and evaluate alternatives.
• Attention to detail in performing work.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
• Analysis and Assessment: Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information.
• Financial Analysis: Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling.
• Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices.
• Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts or data.
• Technical Competence: Uses knowledge acquired through training or experience to perform job duties.
