Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Accountant to enhance our finance team and elevate our accounting processes. In this role, your expertise will play a key role in Blinkist’s success by ensuring efficient and seamless accounting operations, optimizing processes, and supporting strategic decision-making at Blinkist. You’ll work closely with our Director of Finance and cross-functional teams, contributing directly to strategic decision-making and business growth.
- Lead and oversee professional accounting management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
- Drive monthly and annual closing processes, maintaining precise and up-to-date financial records and collaborating cross-functionally.
- Own and improve core accounting operations, including master data maintenance, processing open items, handling accruals and deferrals, and recording cost centers.
- Drive continuous improvement, contributing to the development and optimization of accounting processes.
- Lead our Annual Statutory Audit, collaborating closely with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, handling advance VAT returns (including European VAT) and submitting recapitulative statements.
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting workflows.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience ideally in a dynamic or fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of HGB accounting, including the preparation of insightful business analyses, financial statements, and audits.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, taking initiative to streamline processes and solve challenges.
- Thrive on accuracy and attention to detail, paired with patience and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills within a dynamic team environment.
- Fluency in German and English is essential to navigate both local and international requirements.
