Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is integral to maintaining accurate product costing, supporting inventory reconciliation, and ensuring the integrity of financial data related to cost of goods. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with finance and supply chain to ensure accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
- Calculate Landed Cost of Goods (COG): Determine accurate landed costs for both finished goods and components, including freight, duties, and other applicable charges.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Support month-end closing by reconciling inventory balances with the general ledger and ensuring alignment with the balance sheet.
- Invoice Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to inaccurate or mismatched vendor invoices in collaboration with Accounts Payable and Supply Chain.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain to analyze waste and scrap, validate inventory balances, and resolve differences between purchase receipts and vendor invoices.
- Cost Database Management: Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current, accurate cost information across reporting platforms.
- Cost Optimization: Collaborate with supply chain and finance teams to identify and pursue cost-saving opportunities across materials, logistics, and production processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and cost analysis
- Advanced Excel skills; ability to work with large data sets and pivot tables
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
