Role Description
Our client is seeking a Chief Legal & Governance Officer to lead their clients' legal and compliance functions. This crucial role will not only provide strategic legal advice to the executive team but also ensure that the organization adheres to all governance standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and oversee the company's legal strategy to protect its interests and support its business objectives.
- Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Lead the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures.
- Oversee legal matters and manage relationships with external legal counsel.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with various business units to integrate legal considerations into business decisions.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the relevant bar association.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with significant exposure to corporate governance and compliance.
- Proven track record in managing legal teams and complex legal issues.
- Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience in a regulated industry is preferred.
