Role Description
As Associate General Counsel, Commercial and Corporate, you will be a key strategic leader responsible for building and scaling our corporate and transactional legal functions during a pivotal growth phase. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven healthcare technology company where legal is viewed as a strategic partner in enabling compliant growth. You will oversee all aspects of Headway's commercial relationships, with particular focus on contracts with insurance companies and strategic partners.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team on commercial contracting and corporate governance
- Build and lead high-performing commercial legal team while developing scalable contracting operations
- Develop and implement efficient processes for negotiating, reviewing, and managing agreements with insurance payers and healthcare providers
- Create standardized contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and approval workflows to support rapid scaling
- Establish and oversee contract lifecycle management systems and reporting metrics
- Structure and oversee healthcare-compliant commercial relationships that accommodate multi-state regulatory requirements
- Partner cross-functionally with our Payer, Finance, and Operations teams to enable growth while managing risk
Qualifications
- 8+ years of legal experience with significant in-house leadership experience in commercial contracting
- Deep expertise in healthcare payer contracts, provider agreements, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience establishing efficient commercial contracting processes in high-growth healthcare or healthcare technology companies
- Strong understanding of healthcare corporate structures (MSO, provider networks) and their impact on commercial relationships
- Proven track record scaling legal functions and building high-performing teams
- History of successful cross-functional partnership and executive stakeholder management
- JD from accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing (ability to register as NY in-house counsel required)
Requirements
- The expected base pay range for this position is $204,000 - $300,000, based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
- This role may be eligible for performance-based variable compensation and an equity grant, depending on the position and level.
