[Hiring] Team Lead - Civil Engineer @NEI Electric Power Engineering

Role Description

As a senior level Team Lead in the Renewable Civil group, you will be responsible for managing a team comprised of engineers, drafters, and/or technicians. Your primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of Solar Photovoltaic scopes assigned to the team. This includes:

• Site planning
• Grading
• Stormwater modeling
• Erosion control design
• Hydrology analysis
• Development of SWPPPs
• BMPs
• Site permitting
• Stormwater reports

You will assist in the development of the departments Standard Best Practices (SBPs) and enforce/implement them where pertinent. Team Leads will be a mentor and coach to employees on their team and help them individually as professionals.

This opportunity is available to both local/in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Civil / Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
• 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
• FE is required, PE is preferred
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and others
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project
• Ability to develop staff through mentoring and coaching
• Excellent critical thinking skills
• Commercial understanding of the engineering or construction industries
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, well-organized, and skilled decision maker
• Good interpersonal and people skills
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Requirements

• Perform and manage detailed physical, civil, and structural design and engineering for all aspects of solar photovoltaic engineering
• Produce and review full design packages including site plans, elevations, grading plans, road plans, fence details, permitting, drainage plans, construction details, and supporting calculation package
• Review submittals for conformance with client specifications and design
• Prepare hand and computer-based calculations
• Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies
• Perform field inspection and construction supervision services
• Review the work of other engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for overall quality and accuracy
• Research and evaluate local AHJ design and code requirement and standards
• Work with other project team members to produce project deliverables as assigned
• Oversee project planning, scheduling, and coordination for small to large scale projects
• Support business development, assist with marketing tasks, and prepare proposals as needed
• Understand scope and develop cost estimates, schedules, and assumptions
• Maintain outstanding company-client relationships
• Assist with client contacts and communications pertaining to specific assignments and meetings
• Engage in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
• Provide technical assistance and training for junior engineers
• Assign work to and coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff
• Provide pre-sales technical support to customers and the NEI outside sales team
• Review customer specifications and assist in formulating and communicating the commercial strategy to best address customer needs
• Develop and maintain outstanding company-client relationships
• Maintain high ethical and professional standards
• Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
