Role Description

The IT Rental Operations Products team is responsible for the development and support of products that provide mission critical rental ticketing business capabilities. You will be responsible for:

  • Implementing enhancement changes
  • Monitoring product health
  • Long and short-term capacity planning
  • Resolving production issues
  • Designing initiatives to evolve services to align with the new API-first strategy

You will work closely with various client teams such as:

  • Greenlight
  • Frictionless
  • Kiosks
  • Mobile applications
  • Websites

As a Senior Systems Engineer (Engineer 2), you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the availability, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning for High Availability (HA) Rental Systems
  • Applying a software engineering mindset to system administration topics
  • Monitoring solution health to ensure all rental solutions meet established SLAs
  • Assisting with the resolution of production issues including performance degradation, capacity concerns, and outage events
  • Monitoring system health during maintenance events such as patching and upgrades
  • Participating in problem solving and troubleshooting efforts
  • Evaluating technology effectiveness and making recommendations for improvements

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to strategic capacity planning
  • Focusing on production infrastructure support and operational strategic activities
  • Monitoring key performance metrics and addressing problems
  • Assisting with project planning and providing technical expertise
  • Working on large, complex assignments with significant autonomy
  • Defining, developing, and implementing standards, processes, and procedures
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships within and outside the team
  • Collaborating with Architects to improve overall capacity, performance, and quality
  • Providing documentation for elements of technology
  • Guiding less senior team members on new tasks and assignments
  • Exploring new technologies and embracing challenges

As part of a collaborative team, you’ll work closely with peers across disciplines to design, build, and maintain robust solutions.

Qualifications

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship
  • Must reside in the United States (does not include Alaska or Hawaii)
  • Must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours
  • 3+ years of experience in a software development engineering environment supporting languages and technologies such as JAVA, Web Services, C/C++, and PL/SQL
  • 2+ years of experience with Middleware use and configuration with Tuxedo, WebLogic, and TomCat
  • 2+ years of experience as an AIX/Linux sysadmin and experience with associated tools
  • 2+ years of experience with scripting for automation, system administration, or application support (e.g., Shell/Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell, or similar)
  • 1+ years of experience with Splunk, Dynatrace or equivalent tools
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • General network engineering background
  • Knowledge of system/infrastructure testing, problem solving and troubleshooting concepts
  • Knowledge of capacity planning methodologies
  • Knowledge of hardware concepts as they apply across infrastructure arenas, including networking devices, topologies and resiliency patterns
  • Working knowledge of SQL
