Role Description

As a Senior Manager - Electrical Engineering, you will be responsible for the electrical engineering program for the company's gas generation segment, with an emphasis on reciprocating engine and aeroderivative gas turbine generating facilities and the associated balance of plant equipment. You'll act as the company program engineering representative from proposal stage through execution, helping define company engineering and gas business plans for the gas generation segment, and ensuring that all final engineering products meet client reliability, operability, and constructability requirements.

• Company program engineering representative during all phases from conception through construction completion of gas generation pursuits.
• Interact with interconnecting utility, reciprocating engine and aeroderivative gas turbine generator suppliers, and balance of plant equipment providers.
• Understand client design criteria and intent, and determine how clients and the energy market are evolving on design trends.
• Travel to client office and/or project sites as required to foster client relationships, idea propagation, and problem solving.
• Build understanding of strategic dynamics essential to the gas generation market.
• Coordinate and support engineering activities, making detailed plans to accomplish goals.
• Participate in defining the company engineering and gas business plans necessary goals and actions for the gas generation segment.
• Develop and facilitate safety standards for the gas generation Engineering program.
• Ensure projects are designed and constructed in compliance with applicable industry safety standards.
• Root cause analysis expert for Engineering and Electrical Safety items of the company.
• Develop and implement consistent policies, standards, and procedures for Program management.
• Own the electrical design basis for the power block, including various electrical systems.
• Direct electrical interface design for balance of plant equipment.
• Ensure required electrical studies are scoped, performed, and reconciled with the design.
• Stay current on new technologies and industry practices.
• Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demands to assess project feasibility.
• Facilitate creation and maintain library of design basis documents.
• Support engineering leads review of owner, contractor, and company scopes for completeness.
• Support constructability reviews of engine and turbine power block layouts.
• Support electrical requirements of plant startup, first fire, synchronization, and performance testing.
• Act as the escalation point for electrical commissioning issues.
• Manage and lead engineering staff, orchestrating necessary conversations and meetings.

Qualifications

• Four-year Engineering degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited college.
• 5+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience in gas power generation, with two or more years of leadership experience.
• Registered Professional Engineering (PE) license is strongly preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
• Up to 25% travel required, subject to fluctuations as needs dictate.

Requirements

• Knowledge of reciprocating engine and aeroderivative gas turbine generating equipment and associated balance of plant equipment.
• Substation, generator interconnection, and overhead and underground construction knowledge.
• Civil, mechanical, and electrical power engineering principles.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NFPA, and IEEE standards and utility interconnection requirements.
• Interpersonal skills – ability to influence and persuade groups toward common objectives.
• Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation).
