Role Description

This position is in the HCM/Payroll-Engineering area. Teams reporting to this role and organizational structure will be determined based on final candidate’s experience and background.

As Senior Engineer Manager , you will be responsible for managing engineering teams and overseeing project execution. Making sure we deliver quality software and operational services with the right cloud architecture in a timely manner.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery and continuous improvement of Engineering practice, while meeting the needs of our customers and supporting overall business objectives.

Areas of responsibilities

  • Team Management and Mentorship:
    • Responsible for workforce planning, in terms of readiness, performance and sustainability.
    • Ensuring that the proper people management activities are in place within the practice domain or teams.
    • Includes planning ahead, setting clear performance expectations, providing guidance and mentorship.
    • Developing team members to enhance their skills and performance and conduct performance reviews.
  • Project and Resource Management:
    • Responsible for overseeing the successful execution of engineering projects.
    • Involves coordinating with other teams or departments, managing project schedules and priorities.
    • Allocating resources effectively.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, with high quality based on right architecture.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Ensuring teams are properly informed and guided.
    • Expected to lead by example with a strong display of ownership.
    • Promoting a collaborative approach within the respective engineering teams and across the organization.
    • Breaking down silos and fostering a positive culture of teamwork, communication, and shared goals.
    • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and provide updates on project progress and challenges.
  • Process Improvement and Operational Excellence:
    • Drive process improvement initiatives to increase productivity, efficiency, and quality.
    • Implementing agile methodologies, optimizing development processes.
    • Ensuring responsibilities fall under the right roles and promoting best practices within the engineering team.
  • Strategy ambassador:
    • Identifying areas for improvement, implementing new initiatives, and managing the transition process.
    • Responsible for monitoring the progress of strategic initiatives and evaluating their impact on the organization.
    • Setting in motion any required action to ensure correct implementation within the area of responsibility, in alignment with the CPTO LT.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Engineer Manager having led several engineering projects in that capacity.
  • Experience in software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum product management practice and methodology preferred.
  • Familiarization with cloud delivery operations ideally & DevOps & product Management.
  • Well-developed technical understanding and align efficiently with technical experts in the organization.
  • Leadership qualities such as vision, integrity, resilience, and ability to inspire and motivate individuals and engineering teams.
  • Ability to build and foster a positive team culture, promote collaboration, and resolve conflicts within the team.
  • Good experience in coaching and mentoring.
  • Strategic mindset to align engineering efforts with the overall business objectives and long-term goals of the CPTO organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are needed to address challenges, overcome obstacles, and drive execution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A degree in computer science, engineering, or physics is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
