Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This position is aligned with our Oak Ridge, TN office and offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful nuclear and commercial energy projects.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of complex electrical systems while providing technical expertise across multidisciplinary project teams. You will play a critical role in ensuring engineering excellence, regulatory compliance, and successful project execution.

  • Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for the overall design and analysis of safety and non-safety related electrical systems for nuclear and commercial projects.
  • Regularly interfaces with other technical disciplines (mechanical, nuclear, operations, and electrical engineering teams) for electrical design and consultation having significant impact on project.
  • Applies extensive knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International regulatory criteria and industry best practices.
  • Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional and advanced engineering methods to document compliance with project and code requirements, which may include lighting, volt drop, conductor sizing, and panel heat generation calculations.
  • Generates and reviews wiring diagrams, single line drawings, loop diagrams, control architectural drawings/specifications, electrical and instrumentation specifications, data sheets, and control philosophy documents.
  • Specializes in the preparation of design documents and plant modifications, including coordination with designers in document development in accordance with approved procedures, processes, and design requirements.
  • Specializes in routine development, management, and implementation of engineering analysis, activities, and programs to identify and resolve routine equipment and system problems.
  • Familiar with national codes and standards appropriate to the Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • Ensures relevant design criteria, specifications, practices, procedures, and codes and site design and safety and licensing basis are used in preparation of design media.
  • Works in multi-discipline teams on project-based work and ensures integration of design across multiple disciplines.
  • Conducts mentoring, guidance, and quality reviews of the work of junior colleagues when needed.
  • Performs checking to ensure accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies and procedures and client expectations.
  • Works to assigned schedules ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays.
  • Recommends new equipment, concepts, and techniques to improve performance, simplify design, reduce costs, correct design flaws, or to comply with changes in client requirements, codes, or regulations.
  • Supports installation and testing of site systems and components.
  • Operates with a high degree of independence with minimal guidance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in electrical engineering or related technical or engineering field.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in nuclear industry highly desired.
  • PE highly desired.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mastered the in-depth knowledge and experience required in electrical design.
  • Experience leading Electrical system design (e.g., on site distribution (AC and DC), off site interfaces (switchyard), grounding and lighting protection, plant lighting systems, battery system design, communications systems, or diesel generators).
  • Growing familiarity with nuclear regulatory guidance (e.g., NUREG-0800 Ch. 8).
  • Experience applying relevant codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
