Role Description

As a Senior Engineer for Olsson’s Rail Track Team, you will provide technical leadership and design expertise for complex terminal and intermodal rail projects from concept through completion. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and performing complex track and civil design for intermodal and other rail terminal projects.
• Developing plans, specifications, design calculations, and cost estimates.
• Providing technical guidance and serving as a resource for project teams.
• Performing quality control reviews to ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
• Coordinating with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to support successful project delivery.
• Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Assisting with project scoping, technical proposals, and client coordination.
• Identifying opportunities to improve design processes, efficiency, and quality.

Qualifications

• PE license required.
• 8+ years of experience in rail track design.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
• Strong technical knowledge of rail track, terminal, and/or intermodal design.
• Experience leading technical design efforts and coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to mentor and support the development of junior engineers and designers.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.

Requirements

The typical annual salary range for this role is as listed below. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, and qualifications. Employees in this role may be eligible for our performance-based bonus and merit increases.

• National Pay Range: $120,000 — $160,000 USD
